Eloise Series (Kay Thompson)

Eloise is a mischievous young girl who lives in the Plaza Hotel in New York, where she can't keep herself out of trouble. Her British grandmother, Nanny, takes care of Eloise while her mother goes away, and is always trying to get Eloise to keep out of other people's business. With her little pug dog and her silly turtle at her side, Eloise goes on all kinds of adventures. Author Kay Thompson has a great way of thinking up all the hilarious things that Eloise does. I love Eloise as a character, because she really has an independent attitude about everything, turning bad things around, always looking on the bright side. Eloise isn't afraid to speak up for herself - and others - which gets her in trouble occasionally. And the pictures by Hilary Knight are also great. Very fun and silly, perfect for Eloise's style. Other books by Kay Thompson include: "Eloise" (1955), "Eloise in Paris" (1957), "Eloise at Christmastime" (1958), "Eloise in Moscow" (1959) and "Eloise Takes a Bawth" (2002). I recommend this book for ages 5 to 50.
