The Blue Fairy Book (Andrew Lang)

This book of magical stories originally published in 1889, is completely unabridged, with every one of the original illustrations, too. I could spend hours smiling at the normally used 'thou' and 'thy', and the classic details of the old pictures of the beasts and fairies. This book contains the traditional Cinderella and Hansel and Gretel, along with stories that I hadn't heard of before. But even the stories I have been told so many times were even more interesting to see them in the full length stories. My grandmother gave me this book as a gift from my grandmother, because she had read the same book when she was young. It's nice to see the old tales before they were completely 'Disney-ified'. These are great tales to read as a nice story before tucking in the kids for sleep, because they always end the same: And they all lived happily ever after. This always seems like an ending of a story that really soothes children, so the fall asleep with happy pictures in their head. I recommend this book for ALL AGES!

I remember my sister reading this to me! Thank you for reminding me of it - I can't wait to read it to my little ones!
