Harry Potter Series (J.K. Rowling)

I absolutely LOVE this series. So adventurous, so suspenseful and so addicting. Like the "Twilight" books - which I reviewed Oct. 5 - they are mysterious and dark. As you likely know by this point, I am a huge fan of these kinds of stories. Although I may say that they don't have much blood and gore, they DO have dark magic and spells. Harry Potter is a boy who lives with his aunt, uncle and their slobbish son, Dudley. Harry is treated like a misfit, and lives in a cupboard underneath the staircase. Harry doesn't know yet, but he is outrageously famous in the Wizard World. And this is because he is the only person ever to survive the most dangerous, insane wizard murderer in the world: Voldemort. All he left on Harry's body was a lightning-shaped scar on his forehead. But here is the worst bit: Voldemort wants to destroy Harry once and for all. When Harry finally is told the truth - that his mum and dad were wizards - he goes to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where he begins to learn what he can do. In each one of these captivating books, Harry goes on marvelous adventures, trying to destroy Voldemort. Will he? Read the books to find out! There are seven books in this series: "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone," "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets," "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban," "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire," "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," "Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince" and "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows." Also, the first five of these books have been turned into movies, and the sixth movie will be coming to theaters in July of 2009. I recommend these books for ages 8 and older.
