What's Your Story? (Marion Dane Bauer)

Are you having a hard time writing a story? Do you want to write a story, but don't know where to begin?

This book has a ton of little tricks and ideas to kick away the writer's block, and bring on inspiration. It has all of the basics to writing fiction, with lots of examples, and easy-to-understand passages.

I know I have picked up this book multiple times while writing, and it has a good amount of dog ears and Post-it notes in it. Although this book is not very lengthy, it will give you a big push to beginning your story. If you are a fan of Marion Dane Bauer's work, this is a great one to have. It includes passages from some of her books, with explanation of how and why she wrote it that way. I think this book is great for beginners, but also for kids who already write, because it has things that you wouldn't always think about.

I recommend this book for ages 9-12.
