The Big Book of Girl Stuff & The Big Book of Boy Stuff (Bart King)

With subjects ranging from sleepover tips, make-up and friendship, to bodily functions, insults and video games, Bart King's humorous but helpful books are all about how to have fun as a kid. Both books have reversible dust covers so that you can disguise your book as a Composition Notebook, or remove the cover, and the books are disguised as "Science" and "Physics." These funny books will truly make you laugh out loud with their crazy "Slang" categories and constant mention of loofas (we don't know why). In the girl's book, gentle humor collides with real tips and techniques on things like how to fix embarrassing situations. Jennifer Kalis's cartoon-like illustrations are the icing on the cake.

Although these books have some pretty cliché elements (burping, guns and making gross noises for the boys; make-up, dolls and sleepovers for girls), they are still useful guides that young people will thumb through many times.

They can be read by either gender, or course, and I recommend these books for ages 9-13.
