Hardworking Puppies (Lynn Reiser)

This book by Lynn Reiser is wonderful for young animal lovers and kids that are just learning math. At the beggining, it starts with ten puppies. Each dog has a different job, like guide dogs, water rescue dogs, and sled dogs. But each time you turn the page, one of the dogs goes off to live with the person that needs them the most. But when all but one is left, the last dog is scared. What if he doesn't get a loving owner that can use him? He doesn't have any special jobs! Find out what happenes to this little doggy by reading the book! The pictures in this book make me smile. The dogs that Lynn Resier draws are so cute! Oh yes! Lynn Reiser is the author AND illustator of Hardworking Puppies. This book is great for learning subtraction in a very fun way. I love animals, so I especially like this book. I also liked trying to figure out where each dog would go. To the Eskemo, or to the blind woman? It also has a "Paw Notes" page in the back, telling you a little bit more about each of these special jobs for dogs. I recommend this book for ages 3-5.
