From the Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil. E Frankweiler (E.L. Konigsburg)
Claudia wanted to run away. But first she needed to pick a brother to come with her. So, she picked Jamie. He would be able to keep a secret. And he was rich. Well, Claudia wasn't just running away from home; She was running to somewhere also. She and Jamie were going to The Metropolitan Museum of Art. There, Claudia sleeps in the bed of Marie Antoinette, and they both bathe in the wonderful fountain. And then in comes this beautiful statue. An angel. Who made this sculpture? Nobody knows. There is a rumor going around that it might have been Michelangelo. Claudia and Jamie were going to find out who made the stunning piece. This Newbery Medal winning book by E.L. Konigsburg is fun for the whole family to read. This book is laugh out loud funny, and full of excitement. I really like this book because it is fun to watch these brother and sister together. They make a great team, and in the end they end up finding out how true that really is. Other books by Konigsburg include Silent to the Bone, A View From Saturday, and The Mysterious Edge of The Heroic World. I recommend this wonderful book for ages 7-10.
